Whittan Awarded EcoVadis Gold Sustainability Rating
Whittan, the UK’s leading manufacturer of storage equipment, is excited to announce that for the second year running it has been awarded the EcoVadis Gold rating. This achievement places Whittan in the top 5% of the 130,000+ companies that have gained an EcoVadis credential.
With over 70 years’ experience within the industry, Whittan has long demonstrated its drive to uphold the highest standards for its customers, from maintaining quality in our products to providing intuitive storage solutions and increasing safety measures. The Gold rating from EcoVadis clearly demonstrates our commitment to sustainability.
EcoVadis is the world’s most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings. To earn a rating, an organisation must evidence their commitment across four key areas: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Backed by a powerful technology platform and a global team of domain experts, EcoVadis’ easy-to-use and actionable scorecards provide detailed insight into an organisation’s sustainable practices.
Andrew Whelan, who has responsibility for administering our annual EcoVadis submission said: “Whittan has long recognised the importance of incorporating sustainable practices. As a company, we can no longer make strategic decisions without also taking into account our impact on the environment.
“As a globally recognised accreditation scheme, we know the EcoVadis Gold rating clearly demonstrates to our customers the actions we are putting place to minimise our carbon footprint. With reports showing that an estimated 91% of companies and 85% of consumers are more likely to purchase from a company with a reputation for sustainability, our commitment is more important than ever.
“Although we have gained the Gold rating, Whittan will not stop working towards improving the business. We already ensure that we responsibly source our steel by using integrated mills who manufacture green steel and operate a zero-waste landfill policy. Alongside this, we are investing heavily in our Milton Keynes factory to ensure we reduce our carbon footprint and increase efficiency. Taking these steps ensures we continue to provide our customers with sustainable, top-quality Link51 and Apex products.”
Oliver Vaughan, Chief Financial Officer, adds: “EcoVadis has put in place a much more robust rating process which expects the companies they assess to achieve an even higher level of sustainability standards. Retaining our EcoVadis Gold rating is no small achievement and is testament to the hard work, time and dedication our team has put into ensuring we meet our sustainability promises.
“One of the great things about working with EcoVadis is the fact it provides us with the tools to not only measure our current sustainable practices but also highlights which improvement areas to focus on. This helps Whittan to develop strategies that improve the service we provide our customers while integrating environmental and social considerations throughout our operations. By taking these actions we can positively contribute to shaping a more efficient and sustainable future.”
