Challenge: Outdated Lockers in a High-Standard Facility

Farmers Boy, a key food manufacturing operation for Wm Morrison Supermarkets, required an upgrade to its outdated and inconsistent lockers as part of Morrisons’ "Back to Best" programme. The old lockers, over 20 years in use, suffered from wear and tear, poor key management, and inefficient placement along corridors, causing congestion during shift changes. The new solution had to align with Farmers Boy’s strict hygiene standards, optimise space, and future-proof the facility.

Approach: Custom Locker Rooms with Antimicrobial Coatings

LinkLockers collaborated closely with Farmers Boy to design and install 1,500 high-quality steel lockers across newly created locker rooms. The lockers featured antimicrobial ActiveCoat for hygiene, sloping tops for easy cleaning, and a mix of digital combination locks and key locks, offering flexibility for future upgrades. Digital locks were trialed in one section before scaling up, ensuring effective keyless management. The installation was phased to avoid disruption to the 24/7 operations of the plant.
