Challenge: The Need for Advanced Warehouse Storage Solutions

Mann+Hummel, a global leader in automotive filtration systems, required additional warehouse capacity to support the growth of its Aftermarket Division. A new 5,500 sqm distribution centre in Featherstone, UK, needed a tailored storage solution to increase pallet capacity, minimise bottlenecks, and enable efficient operations for various pallet sizes.

Approach: High-Capacity Pallet Racking and Shelving System

Link51 installed a racking solution with 20 racks, 142 bays, and 6,300 pallet locations. The design accounted for both Euro and standard pallets, increasing bay sizes from 2.7m to 3.6m wide for optimal capacity. Features included in-rack sprinklers, backstop protection and additional high-capacity pallet spaces. Tiered shelving was added to maximise picking efficiency, with future scalability to add extra tiers. Secure lockers and a high-value goods cage further enhanced functionality.
