Hill Dickinson: Mobile Archive Shelving
Maximising Archive Storage Efficiency for Hill Dickinson
Founded in 1810, Hill Dickinson is a premier UK commercial law firm with a rich heritage, including handling maritime cases such as the RMS Titanic. To streamline operations and improve document management, the firm consolidated its Liverpool-based satellite archive storage units into a centralised, high-capacity facility.
The Challenge: Space-Efficient Storage for Legal and Maritime Records
Hill Dickinson needed a space-efficient, scalable storage solution to house legal and maritime records while integrating seamlessly with their barcoding and practice management systems for easy file retrieval.
The Solution: Link51's High-Capacity Mobile Shelving System
Link51 designed and installed a state-of-the-art mobile shelving system, maximising storage density and accessibility. The system features back-to-back shelving bays on mobile bases that move on floor-mounted rails, allowing easy access with minimal floor space usage. Each base supports up to 22 tonnes and can be operated with a lightweight hand wheel.
The Impact: High-Density Storage and Enhanced File Retrieval
- 4.2km of shelving providing high-density storage
- Seven-metre-high shelving units, accommodating 16,000 boxes in just a fraction of the space required for static storage
- Enhanced file retrieval efficiency through a seamless barcoding system
- Optimised warehouse use, freeing up valuable space for other operations
