Wide Aisle Pallet Racking
Challenge: Tight Deadlines & Efficient Pallet Storage Needs
Matthew Clark, a leading drinks supplier with 4,000 products, required a new pallet racking system at their 8,452 sqm distribution centre in Royal Portbury Dock, Bristol. Operated by the Bristol Port Company, the warehouse needed to support 8,572 pallet locations with efficient access for a pick-and-pack operation. A tight installation timeline was necessary as the lease on their previous facility was expiring.
Approach: High-Capacity Wide Aisle Pallet Racking
Link51 designed and installed a wide-aisle pallet racking system with 15 aisles, each 75 meters long, tailored for three reach trucks and bulk storage. Custom 1m x 1.2m pallet configurations enhanced vehicle loading efficiency, and steel spreader plates supported the racking on the hardened floor slab. High-visibility barriers improved aisle safety. The project leveraged UK manufacturing for rapid completion and spare parts availability.
Solution: Flexible Pallet Racking
Link51 completed the installation ahead of schedule, allowing the distribution centre to operate at full capacity within weeks of stock arrival. The efficient racking system optimised storage and streamlined Matthew Clark's logistics operations.
