Criminal Record Storage
Centralised Record Storage with Efficient Shelving Solutions
The Challenge: Expanding Record Storage to Meet MoPI Requirements
Bedfordshire Police needed to centralise over 22,000 boxes of criminal records under the Management of Police Information Policy (MoPI). An existing storeroom at Luton Police Station, located in the underground car park, was identified for expansion to create a centralised record management hub.
The Approach: Bespoke Shelving Solution to Maximise Space
Utilising the ESPO framework, Bedfordshire Police awarded the project to Link51. The solution involved designing a storage system using static Stormor shelving combined with five mobile units, accommodating 12,073 boxes across 247 bays (1724.8m of linear storage). Link51 optimised the available space by adapting the shelving to fit around brickwork obstacles and sloping ceilings.
The Solution: Centralised and Efficient Record Management
The tailored storage solution successfully centralised the police records, ensuring secure, efficient management and time-sensitive destruction under data protection regulations.
The Result: Streamlined Operations and Optimised Storage
Bedfordshire Police now benefits from a modern, space-efficient record storage facility, improving accessibility and management of critical records while meeting compliance requirements.
