Maximising Storage Efficiency at ATC Pirbright
The Army Training Centre (ATC) Pirbright, located in Surrey, is the UK’s largest recruit training centre, with a throughput of around 4,200 recruits annually. The centre provides training for multiple military corps and houses a variety of logistical functions.
Integrated Storage Solutions for Military Logistics at ATC Pirbright
To streamline operations and improve storage for its military supplies, ATC Pirbright constructed a new £7.5 million logistics facility. The new building consolidates multiple stores, increasing capacity and accommodating the growing number of recruits.
The Challenge: Centralised Storage for Military Supplies
The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) tasked the centre with managing various types of military equipment, including mattresses, clothing, tools, and more. The solution needed to be scalable, space-efficient, and capable of supporting a high volume of items in a busy environment.
The Solution: Link51’s Tailored Shelving and Racking Systems
Following a tender process, Link51 was selected to provide integrated shelving and racking systems. The solution included pallet racking for heavy items, Longspan shelving for bulk storage, and Euro shelving for the main clothing store. This comprehensive system maximised available space across six different storage areas.
The Impact: High-Capacity Storage Across Multiple Facilities
The new storage systems provided more than 2,000 linear metres of storage space, greatly improving space utilisation and organisational efficiency. This allowed ATC Pirbright to meet its military logistical needs while freeing up valuable space for other operations.
A Future-Proof Storage System for ATC Pirbright
By implementing Link51’s flexible and durable storage solutions, ATC Pirbright now has a future-proof logistics facility that supports its long-term training objectives and enhances operational efficiency. The seamless installation and robust design ensure the system will serve the centre for years to come.
