Challenge: Growing E-Commerce & Retail Operations

Angling Direct, the UK's largest fishing tackle retailer, outgrew its previous facility due to increasing online sales and needed a new distribution warehouse to store and replenish stock across 42 retail stores. The company required a versatile storage solution to accommodate over 20,000 product lines and improve stock control and picking efficiency.

Approach: Bespoke Shelving

Link51 collaborated with Angling Direct to design a flexible, high-density shelving system. The system needed to accommodate both small and irregularly shaped items while allowing for future growth. A mezzanine was also planned to maximise vertical space. The solution included Euro shelving for smaller items and Longspan shelving for larger products like fishing rods.

Solution: Adjustable Shelving System

The shelving system featured:

• 216 bays of Euro shelving with 1,296 pick bins for small items.
• 32 bays of Longspan shelving for 128 rod bins.
• Shelving was finished with ActiveCoat® microbial coating for added durability.

Impact: Boosting Efficiency & Supporting Growth

The new shelving system increased operational efficiency, allowing Angling Direct to handle a higher volume of orders and meet customer expectations. The scalable solution also provided flexibility for future expansion.
